Kanguru Solutions, a division of Interactive Media Corporation, is a manufacturer and marketer of high tech computer hardware peripherals located in Millis, Massachusetts. Products include removable and external hard drives, USB flash drives, CD Duplicators, DVD Duplicators, MP3 players and more.  

Company History

Kanguru Solutions was founded in 1992 in Holliston, Massachusetts. The company originally got its start developing and selling interactive kiosks for retail stores in the New England area. The evolution of the company was forever changed when, in the summer of 1993, co-founders Donald Brown and George Moser brainstormed and developed a revolutionary new storage device for PCs. The result was a first of its kind, removable and external hard drive they dubbed the KanguruDisk. 

The KanguruDisk incorporated a 20MB (considered massive at the time!) hard drive with removable and external functionality. It was fast, durable and a great way of centralizing, securing and backing up valuable data! This highly versatile drive has remained a staple of Kanguru Solution's product line-up since it's inception, yet has continued to evolve through the years as new technology and capacities have emerged. Today, in it's current incarnation, the KanguruDisk can store up to 250GB, can transfer over 1.5GB of data per minute, comes in two colors, and can connect either internally to an IDE connection or externally through 4 different interfaces! 

Since the development of the KanguruDisk, Kanguru Solutions has expanded its product line to include one of the first multi-interface external hard drives featuring Parallel, USB, PCMCIA/Cardbus and Firewire connectivity!  Kanguru Solutions was also one of the first companies to pioneer CD & DVD Duplicators, external CDRWs and was also one of the first manufacturers to bring to market USB Flash Drive Technology. 

As the company expanded its reseller channel and introduced new product lines, it managed to outgrow its original facility in Holliston and, in 2001, moved to a new corporate headquarters in Ashland, MA.  Early 2003 found the company stretching its legs again and expanding into yet another, larger facility located in Millis, MA. The new facility boasts twice the office space and three times the warehouse space to allow for future growth of the company!

In 2005 Kanguru Solutions released one of the first USB Flash Drives to incorporate biometric technology for security as well as a line of ultra mini USB drives using 1" and 1.8" hard drives.

In 2006 Kanguru Solutions reinforced its' status as a peripheral pioneer with the development of one of the first secure USB Flash Drives to obtain FIPS 140-2 Certification from NIST.

Why Kanguru?

We are often asked, "Where did the name Kanguru come from?" The Kanguru moniker was developed as a play on words when we first developed the KanguruDisk. Company President and founder Donald Brown was looking for a unique name for the new, mobile storage solution. Playing off the name Kangaroo, to convey a mobile product capable of "hopping" from one location to another, he then incorporated the company's technical expertise by modifying the spelling to "guru'! Thus Kanguru was born!

Warranty Information

Coverage: Kanguru Solutions warrants product to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for the warranty period. (See specific product for Warranty terms.) This non-transferable, limited warranty is only to you, the first end-user Purchaser. All product warranties begin on the date of purchase.

Exclusions: Excluded is damage caused by accident, misuse, abuse, exposure of media to excess magnetic fields, or external environmental causes. Clearance items may not carry full warranty.

Remedies: Your sole and exclusive remedy for a covered defect is repair or replacement of the defective product, at Kanguru Solution 's sole option and expense. 

The above is Kanguru Solution's entire obligation to you under this warranty. IN NO EVENT SHALL KANGURU SOLUIONS BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR SPECIAL DAMAGES OR LOSSES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, USE, OR PROFITS, EVEN IF KANGURU SOLUTIONS HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. In no event shall Kanguru Solution's liability exceed the original purchase price of the drive or media disk in question. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.

Shipping Information

Kanguru Solutions offers a variety of shipping methods to our customers including UPS Ground, 3 Day, 2 Day and Next Day. Each shipping option varies in price depending on size and weight of product and destination. Products generally ship 1-2 business days after order has been received. Shipping options reflect shipping method only and not priority of shipping date. All orders are shipped as soon as possible. If you have already placed an order, you can track it here.

International Customers: Kanguru Solutions does not accept credit cards as a method of payment outside of the U.S. or Canada. For international orders we ask that you pay via wire transfer. When placing your order online, simply enter "International Order" when prompted for a credit card number and "NA" for the expiration date. Be sure to include your e-mail address as we will have a customer service rep contact you through e-mail with wire transfer information.

Export Information

Export Law Compliance. Regardless of any disclosure made to Kanguru Solutions pertaining to the ultimate destination of the specific Kanguru product, you warrant that you will not export, directly or indirectly, any Kanguru Product without first obtaining the approval of Kanguru Solutions and the appropriate export license from the Department of Commerce or other agency of the United States Government. Kanguru has a wide range of products and each product family has different license requirements relative to exports.

Return Policy (HARDWARE)

0-30 Days: Kanguru Solutions offers a 30 day money back guarantee on all products excluding CD and DVD Duplicators, Hard Drive Duplicators, clearance items, custom orders and volume purchases. All returns must be accompanied by an RMA Number (Return Material Authorization) and copy of receipt or packing slip. No money is returned or credited until product has been received by Kanguru Solutions. All shipping costs incurred from a return shipment are the sole responsibility of the customer. Exclusions: CD and DVD Duplicators, Hard Drive Duplicators, USB Duplicators, clearance items, custom orders and volume purchases are all sold under an "All Sales Final" stipulation. These items cannot be returned for money back, however, these items are covered by standard warranty. (See Warranty Above)

Beyond 30 Days: Kanguru Solutions DOES NOT offer money back once the initial 30 day period has expired. All returns beyond 30 days are governed by our warranty policy. (See Warranty Above)
