Expanding a Single Volume Beyond 2TB

How do I get my computer to recognize single volume that is larger than 2TB?

If you installed two HDDs in the a QSX enclosure that when combined have a capacity larger than 2TB (e.g. 2 x 1.5TB or 2 x 2TB set to RAID0 or BIG), your system will not be able to recognize a single volume past 2TB. Note: This limitation is caused by your operating system. The QSX is the only dual bay drive Kanguru Solutions offers that has the potential to break the 2TB limit.

There are several things that must be done to configure a drive past 2TB.

• Must be using GPT file system - Disks are usually formatted as MBR (Master Boot Record) which has a 2TB single-volume limit. In order to exceed 2TB limit, the drive must be formatted as GPT (GUID Partition Table). • Must be running Windows Vista or 7 - Windows XP cannot recognize partitions larger than 2TB because it does not support GPT format.

• Must update your QSX's firmware to the latest version
